FDD: Franchise Disclosure Document

  • Definition: Formerly known as the Uniform Franchise Offering Circular (UFOC), the Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) provides information about the franchisor, the obligations of the franchisor and the franchisee, fees, start-up costs, and other required information about the franchise system.
  • Example: This document must be given to the franchisee at least 14 days prior to the contract signature.
