The Huddle Helper February 2023

We incorporate the Happy to Help Huddles throughout the property. We don’t always host them in housekeeping or the back office, we try to switch it up and keep it engaging!

We All WIN When We Communicate Effectively

We know you work hard to ensure smooth guest interactions, but our interdepartmental communication needs to run just as smoothly. Here are some ideas to consider that may help you and your team master communication now, before the busy season!

  • Use a logbook designed for hotels! You will find they come in various styles and are available on various sites
  • Use apps while at work to communicate (Whats App, Slack, Teams, Google)
  • Use Walkie Talkies for Management, Leads and Maintenance
  • Use the Happy to Help Back of House Board for communication of group arrivals, events, and other items

As you prepare for the busy season, are you and your team set for success? Have you or another team member taken the time to do a run-through of the Sample Quality Assurance Review (QAR) to ensure your hotel will pass? Now is the time for a refresher on the Quality Assurance Review standards and to involve your team! You can also use this link for a refresher on ‘What is Clean’ in CUTV

A great option is to utilize the 2023 Sample QAR form and designate what team is covering what areas. For example, your breakfast attendant will cover the breakfast area; your front office supervisor will cover the desk, lobby, and computer area; etc. Divide and conquer the hotel by department or shifts!

Where is Your Team on ‘Fuel’?

How is your team doing as you prepare for the busy season? Are they running on Full or Empty – what level of service are they prepared to give your guests? Where can you fill in the gaps for your team to ensure they are ready to care for your guests?

At Sleep Inn, we all know the importance of providing better rest, pleasant dreams, and relaxation. Is your team applying those same ideas to their own wellbeing, or are they in need of a wellness check? When your team members are running on empty, they’re not able to deliver the reliable, thoughtful, and friendly service our guests deserve. If you or your team aren’t feeling their best, consider the following:

  • If a team member appears to be struggling or in need of a break, check on them. Show them you care and that they deserve to take care of themself.
  • Ask team members how they manage stress and share healthy tips with the whole team.
  • Make wellness a part of your daily discussions. When we discuss our wellness needs and ideas often, it can become a part of our culture.
  • Did you know?  All Sleep Inn employees receive 3 complimentary months of premium access to the BetterSleep app. Click here to register today!
