“In all my years in the hotel business, which is a long time, I have never seen more of a team player than Luis. Aside from all his duties around the hotel, he still makes sure that all the other departments are ok. Without direction, he helps housekeeping with cleaning and making beds for them, which he was not asked to do, but he sees when they are shorthanded and asks the head housekeeper for a list to help.  Every time that a guest has maintenance issues, he is there; even if it was an older couple just not knowing how the TV remote works, he will spend time with them explaining all the buttons.
When he comes into work all the staff light up.
If the front desk has a language barrier issue with a guest at the desk or over the phone, he asks the front desk right away if they want his help to translate for them.
He sees what will make the staff’s life easier and will set up a new system that will help them.
We can’t do enough to help him realize that he is truly valued.  Every time we mention it, he just says ‘I am doing my job’.
