This month we highlight content and opportunities for leaders and managers to improve the performance of their teams. Plus, we are pleased to announce Operator Certifications (HOST/Extended Stay Essentials) completions and acknowledge the achievement of those who are now operator certified.

Human Trafficking Prevention Month

January 2023 is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month. It is a crucial time for us all to educate ourselves about human trafficking and crucially to learn to spot the signs of trafficking. It is also a time for us to take these messages to our workplaces, our communities, our schools, our representatives, and everywhere else. The purpose is to bring attention and opposition to human trafficking and modern-day slavery.

The hotel industry is in a unique position to identify and report human trafficking due to its perceived anonymity. Traffickers believe they can go unnoticed while exploiting victims in hotels. From check-in to check-out there are a number of indicators victims and exploiters exhibit while they are on hotel property. In cooperation with ECPAT (End Child Prostitution and Trafficking), Choice University has expanded its training and awareness of the issue of human trafficking. Produced by ECPAT, Your Role In Preventing Human Trafficking is available to all employees. This program is in addition to the content currently provided in the Human Trafficking Awareness learning track.

A certificate of completion is available in your profile when you complete the Human Trafficking Awareness learning track. Please check with your manager/owner to determine if this training satisfies any requirements your hotel may have.

Choice ESsentials Extended Stay Training – What is Choice ESsentials?  

• Choice ESsentials is a General Manager Certification Training Program that will have a dedicated focus on the unique characteristics of the Extended Stay segment such as:
  • Extended Stay Sales 
  • Extended Stay Revenue Management 
  • Extended Stay Guest and Reputation Management  
  • Extended Stay Operations  
• Choice ESsentials is a combination of self-paced learning modules within Choice University and live instructor-led sessions with our dedicated Extended Stay Training team. 
• Choice ESsentials is also designed to minimize the amount of time a new General Manager is required to be away from the day-to-day operations of the hotel.
