AAA: American Automobile Association

  • Definition: Is a federation of motor clubs in the United States and Canada. Members of AAA can often get discounts on hotel stays. AAA gives members information on more than 27,000 inspected and approved hotels that all meet AAA’s standards for cleanliness, comfort and hospitality.
  • Example: AAA/CAA members save 0-15% off Best Available Rate at Choice Hotels in North America, subject to availability. The rate requires a valid AAA/CAA ID number to complete the reservation. Guest must show AAA/CAA card at check-in.

AAA Diamond Program

  • Definition: The American Automobile Association’s designation program for hotels and restaurants. The new program, unveiled in January 2020, replaces ratings with designations to distinguish its professional content from user ratings.
  • Example: AAA Diamond Program designations are now: Approved, Three Diamond, Four Diamond, or Five Diamond. More Diamonds indicate more elaborate surroundings and attention from the service staff.
